Box Score 2 Kissimmee, Fl. - The Meredith softball team began their Florida trip 2-0 picking up an 8-3 win over Southern Maine followed by a 6-3 victory over Farmingdale State.
In game one of the morning, the Angels jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first. They added two runs in the next two innings each to extend their lead.
Grad student Alyssa Drake and junior Laura Tobin had three-hit and two RBI games to lead the Meredith offense. Juniors Sarah Manis and Mia Staggs also added two hits apiece.
Senior Hannah Weigle tallied five strikeouts in seven innings of work only giving up three earned runs.
In game two of the afternoon, Farmingdale State struck first scoring two in the top of the first. Meredith quickly answered in the bottom of the inning scoring three. This was the only time the Angels trailed all day.
Five different Angels picked up an RBI in game two while Drake led the way again with three hits and an RBI. Freshman Avery Puryear tallied an RBI in a two-hit effort.
Freshman Lillie Davis struck out seven only giving up two earned runs.
Meredith is back in action in Kissimmee, Fl. at 2 p.m. when they battle Arcadia followed by St. Joseph's at 4:30 p.m.
