Box Score 2 NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Meredith softball program traveled to No. 2 Christopher Newport University Sunday afternoon and dropped both games falling 6-0 in game one and then 8-0 in five innings in game two inside Captains Park.
In game one, Meredith (8-10) only tallied two hits from graduate senior Alyssa Drake.
Christopher Newport (13-3) was held scoreless until the third inning and then exploded in the fourth for five runs.
The Angels tallied six hits in game two but left seven on base. Juniors Sarah Manis and Mia Staggs along with the freshman duo of Avery Puryear and Emilee Lewis picked up four hits for Meredith. Senior Fallon Wimberly and sophomore Gracie Massengale picked up the other two for the Angels.
Meredith is back in action and opens up USA South play on Tuesday, March 28th, when they travel to Brevard College for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
