Box Score 2 BREVARD, N.C. - The Avenging Angel softball program swept Brevard College and shut them out through two games to begin USA South play. Meredith won both games in five innings, 12-0 in game one followed by a 9-0 win in game two.
Meredith exploded in the third inning of game one scoring eight runs. The Angels tallied 15 total hits for the game with three players having multi-hit games.
Freshman Emilee Lewis led the charge with three hits and three RBIs. Juniors Sarah Manis and Savannah Talley both had two hits while senior Fallon Wimberly and sophomore Jessie Woller also added two hits.
Freshman Lillie Davis earned the first win in the circle only giving up two hits and striking out four.
In game two, senior Hannah Weigle picked up the shutout victory in the circle. Weigle had five strikeouts and only gave up three hits.
Three first-inning runs helped the Angels to another five-inning win. Junior Laura Tobin picked up three hits while fellow junior Mia Staggs added two hits and an RBI. Wimberly continued her stellar day with two more hits and two more RBIs.
Meredith is back in action for a busy upcoming weekend. They host Salem at 12 and 2 p.m. on Saturday followed by William Peace Sunday at 1 and 3 p.m.
