Softball outpaces William Peace in Sunday doubleheader

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Avenging Angels swept William Peace in a Sunday doubleheader winning game one 5-1 and game two 6-3. Meredith honored Alumni pregame while also having their annual strikeout cancer game. 

In game one, Meredith (14-10, 6-0 USA South) saw freshman Lillie Davis continue her fantastic pitching in the circle only allowing three hits, one earned run, and striking out five. 

William Peace (15-11, 3-5 USA South) was held scoreless until the 5th inning. 

At the plate, junior Sarah Manis led the charge with three hits while graduate student Alyssa Drake tallied two RBIs.

The Angels were in full control of game two until the top of the 7th inning. Meredith led 6-1 before the Pacers tacked on two more.

Senior Hannah Weigle picked up the win in the circle giving up two earned runs and striking out three. Davis picked up the save. 

Manis continued her stellar day by having a two-hit game while junior Mia Staggs had a game-high three hits and an RBI. Drake and senior Fallon Wimberly added two RBIs each.

Meredith has never started 6-0 in the USA South before.

The Angels are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Methodist with game one set for 3 p.m.
