ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The Meredith softball program concluded its 2023 regular season with a split on the road at N.C. Wesleyan College Saturday afternoon on Edge Field. The Angels fell 4-0 in game one before taking game two 3-1.

Meredith (21-17, 11-7 USA South) struggled to get the offense rolling in game one only producing two hits as a team. Junior Mia Staggs and Senior Fallon Wimberly produced the two hits.

N.C. Wesleyan (27-13, 12-6 USA South) scored all four runs in the second inning to propel them to a game-one victory. Freshman Lillie Davis only gave up three earned runs while striking out four. 

The script was flipped in game two as Meredith scored all three of its runs in the first inning to earn the conference split. Junior Sarah Manis, who became the all-time program leader in triples last weekend, tallied three hits and added two stolen bases.

Junior Laura Tobin earned the lone RBI for the Angels while having one hit on the afternoon. Senior Hannah Weigle picked up the complete game victory in the circle not giving up any earned runs and adding four strikeouts. 

The standings for the USA South Tournament are still being finalized but at the moment the Angels sit in fourth after one of the best starts in conference play in program history.
