SALISBURY, Md. - The Meredith lacrosse 2023 campaign came to an end as the Angels fell 20-3 against No. 4 Salisbury University Sunday afternoon inside Sea Gull Stadium in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. 

Salisbury jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter of action and never looked back. The Angels scored back-to-back goals early in the second quarter. Senior Tori Witmer and junior Jessica Dowdy both scored off assists from freshman Reese Walker. Walker also added a goal later in the contest. 

The Seagulls led 14-2 at the half and just seemed to be too much for the Angels who played in a down poor yesterday to advance. 

Dowdy added seven draw controls and three ground balls along with the only caused turnover the Angels had. Junior Madeline Horrell tallied 15 saves in the net for Meredith and three ground balls.

Meredith finishes the 2023 season 17-5 and 9-0 in the USA South. Once again winning the USA South Tournament for the ninth year in a row, which led to the program's second all-time NCAA Tournament victory 16-11 over Washington & Jefferson.
