Tennis falls to Guilford; takes down Salem in fall action

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. - The Meredith tennis program opened up their 2023 fall season at Salem College Saturday afternoon. The Angels fell 5-4 against Guilford in the first match of the day before taking down Salem 5-4. 

Junior Ellie Osborne and senior Savannah Duduk picked up wins in singles action for the Angels. Duduk won in straight sets while Osborne won 6-2, 5-7, and 10-7 in the deciding set. 

Osborne also earned a win in doubles with fellow junior Ryann Jennings 8-6 while Hannah Higgins and Ellie Phillips won 8-4.

In the win over Salem, the Angels found wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to start the match. Osborne and Jennings picked up another win along with Duduk and Claire Southern. Jennings, Duduk, and Southern also all won their singles matches in straight sets lifting the Angels to the victory. 

Meredith is back in action when they host Virginia Wesleyan at 1 p.m. on Oct. 14th.
