Bridgewater, Virginia— Meredith College field hockey fell 4–0 on Saturday in a challenging road matchup. The Avenging Angels fought hard throughout the contest but were unable to convert on scoring opportunities.
How It Happened
The Angels opened the first quarter with strong possession, creating a few early chances, including a penalty corner by Marissa Tilgner and a shot by Cambria Chandler, but their opponent struck first at 5:27, taking a 1–0 lead.
In the second quarter, Meredith applied consistent pressure with shots from Sophia Frez and Charlotte Dyer and another penalty corner from Tilgner, but the opponent extended the lead to 2–0.
Meredith generated offensive opportunities in the third quarter, including shots from Frez and Dyer, yet the opponent added a third goal to go up 3–0.
The fourth quarter saw the Angels push for a comeback, creating several penalty corners and shots from Megan Ingenito and Dyer, but the opponent finished with a fourth goal to secure the 4–0 win.
