ROME, Ga. | Meredith Softball's Avery Puryear and Kaylee Manning earned USA South Player of the Week honors after their standout performances in the Avenging Angels sweep of Brevard this past weekend. Puryear won Player of the Week and the USA South recognized Manning as Rookie Pitcher of the Week.

Puryear had a sensational day at the plate. She led Meredith to the 13-5 victory over Brevard in game one. Avery was perfect at the plate, going 4-4 with three doubles, six RBIs, and three runs scored. Puryear's hot bat continued in game two and in total, she went 6-8 (.750) at the dish with a .750 on-base percentage, and a 1.250 slugging percentage.

Kaylee Manning got the start in game two, pitched a complete game, and got the win. She threw five innings, recorded five strikeouts, and only allowed three hits and two earned runs to pick up her third win of the season.

Puryear, Manning, and the softball team are back in action on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. for a home doubleheader against Pfeiffer.
