Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. - The Meredith Avenging Angels (4-1-3) soccer team earned their second USA South win today with a 1-0 shutout of new league member Huntingdon College (2-3, 0-1 USAS).
In the 39th minute of the game, Jessie Davis pushed the ball up field to Robin Moore. Moore collected the pass and charged ahead to Brittany LaRussa, who netted her third career goal on the play to secure the Meredith win.
The Avenging Angels outshot Huntingdon 28-2 and dominated the game with 16 corner kick attempts. Danielle Lee and Meghan Ingram led MC with three shots on goal apiece.
Anna Smither and Megan Luke assisted senior goalie Kelsey Hopper on the defensive end, limiting attacks from the Hawks.
Hopper tallied two saves, both from HC's Clara Tapplin, while Hawk keeper Josie Byard notched 10 saves in 90 minutes on the field.
The Avenging Angels cap off the conference weekend with LaGrange College tomorrow. The Panthers put away Mary Baldwin 7-2 in Saturday's USA South opener. First kick is slated for Noon Sunday on Meredith's turf field.
