RALEIGH, N.C. - In Saturday's Play 4Kay event, the Ferrum Panthers cruised past Meredith College basketball 74-33. The Avenging Angels were simply outplayed as the Panthers recorded 46.7 percent from the field to Meredith's 19.3.

After Ferrum jumped out to an early 10-0 lead, Jessi Hayes finally put the Angels on the scoreboard at 16:37. But Meredith remained in single digit scoring through the first 17 minutes of play leaving Ferrum with a 27-point lead at 3:02.

Hayes scored the next four, but Meredith carried a 25-point deficit into the locker room at the half.

Ferrum's Jacole Hairston scored 11 of the next fifteen points as the Panthers remained out of reach.

Chandler Hines forced a turnover in the 12th minute, and Raven Gregory finished the play on the offensive end. Rookies Stephanie Girard and Gabi Jessup drilled a three-pointer apiece down the stretch, but Meredith's offense failed to gain much traction throughout 40 minutes of play.

Hayes finished with 10 points, and Kim Hinton added seven with four rebounds. Danielle Lee led the Angels with nine boards, and Brittaney Rice picked up a pair of steals.

Ferrum's Hairston led all with a game high 23 points, and Kemani Crawford added 10 points, 11 rebounds.

The Avenging Angels host Mary Baldwin Sunday in the final home game of the season. Head Coach Melinda Campbell and her team will honor the four seniors just prior to a 2 p.m. tip-off.
