Box Score BREVARD, N.C. - The Meredith basketball program picked up a crucial USA South road win 62-49 over Brevard College Saturday afternoon.
The Avenging Angels (7-14, 8-7 USA South) jumped out early on the Tornados (13-8, 9-5 USA South) outscoring them 17-9 in the first quarter of play.
Meredith carried that momentum into the second quarter and headed into the halftime break with a 14-point lead. The Angels never looked back in the second half going back and forth with the Tornados. Brevard only outscored Meredith by one in the second half.
Senior Kate Perko had another outstanding performance earning a double-double with 32 points and 17 rebounds while also adding six assists and two blocks. Freshman Rylie Wade added eight points with six rebounds while junior Piper Carriere tallied seven points and three assists.
The Angels shot 47.3 percent from the field while holding the Tornados to just 27.8 percent.
Meredith is back on the road next Saturday, Feb. 11th, when they head to Mary Baldwin for a 4:30 p.m. matchup.
