WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Meredith College Track & Field team continued its indoor season on Saturday, January 17, 2026, competing at the Mondo College Invitational hosted by JDL Fast Track. The Avenging Angels delivered strong performances across sprints, middle distance, distance, and field events while facing a deep collegiate field.
Sprint Highlights: In the women's 60 meters, sophomore
Abigail Clayton led Meredith with a time of 8.22, finishing 47th overall. Freshman
Angel Southerland followed with an 8.65, while senior
Natasha Elder crossed the line in 8.96. The women's 200 meters saw junior
Abrianna Casarez post a solid 27.08. Casarez also impressed in the 400 meters, placing 16th overall with a time of 1:02.25. Elder added a 27th-place finish in 1:05.11. In the seeded section of the 400 meters, Clayton continued her strong day on the track, running 1:01.68.
Middle Distance & Distance Results: Meredith showcased depth in the middle distance events as junior
Carly O'Toole finished 19th in the 1000 meters with a time of 3:19.95. Freshman
Madison Moyer made her Indoor Track debut for the Avenging Angels in the mile, clocking 5:56.03. In the women's 3000 meters, junior
Delaney Bundy led the way with a strong 12th-place finish in 10:29.64. Freshman
Juana Silva Jimenez (11:15.17) and
Abigail Davis (11:23.16) followed closely behind, while senior
Laura Brown completed the Meredith contingent in 11:59.89.
Field Event Performances: The Avenging Angels also made their mark in the field events. Freshman Jane Gray Zechini cleared 2.65 meters (8' 8.25") to place eighth in the pole vault. In the shot put, senior
Athena Mowatt led Meredith with a mark of 10.34 meters, while freshmen
Jamie Cornatzer (9.53m) and
Finley Sparks (7.64m) gained valuable competition experience. One of the standout performances of the meet came in the weight throw, where sophomore
Bryanna Herring earned a second-place finish on her way to a new school record with a season-best mark of 15.92 meters (52' 2.75"). Cornatzer added a throw of 10.80 meters, and sophomore
Kaitlyn Lawton rounded out the event at 7.39 meters.
