RALEIGH, N.C. — Meredith College lacrosse continued its dominant run through USA South Conference play with a pair of standout individual honors, as senior attacker Reese Walker and junior midfielder Bailey Swails were named USA South Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. The duo powered the Avenging Angels to a perfect 3-0 week against conference competition, showcasing both explosive offense and relentless defensive pressure.
Offensive Player of the Week: Reese Walker
Walker delivered an exceptional all-around performance, totaling 29 points on 12 goals and 17 assists across three conference victories. The Fayetteville, North Carolina native consistently set the tone for Meredith's attack, adding nine ground balls, four caused turnovers, and a draw control to her stat line.
She opened the week with a dominant showing in a 24-1 win over Pfeiffer, recording six goals and four assists while adding four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Walker followed that performance with seven points (four goals, three assists) in a 20-4 road victory at Piedmont, along with three ground balls and a draw control. She capped the week in impressive fashion during a 23-0 shutout of Brevard, dishing out 10 assists and adding two goals, two ground balls, and a caused turnover. During that Brevard victory, Walker also reached a major career milestone, surpassing 500 career points—further cementing her place among the program's all-time greats.
Defensive Player of the Week: Bailey Swails
Swails anchored the defensive effort while also making a significant impact in transition and on the offensive end. The Wilmington, North Carolina native totaled eight caused turnovers, seven ground balls, and 18 draw controls, while also contributing eight goals and one assist during the undefeated week.
In Meredith's 24-1 victory over Pfeiffer, Swails controlled possession with seven draw controls, added two caused turnovers and two ground balls, and scored twice. She elevated her play in a 20-4 win at Piedmont, recording three caused turnovers, eight draw controls, and five goals in a commanding two-way performance. Swails closed the week in the 23-0 shutout of Brevard with three caused turnovers, additional ground ball and draw control contributions, and one goal.
