RALEIGH, N.C. — Meredith College junior first baseman Ashbee Standridge was named USA South Conference Softball Player of the Week after a strong all-around performance at the plate for the Avenging Angels.
Standridge, a native of Creedmoor, North Carolina, put together an impressive offensive week, finishing 7-for-15 at the plate with a .467 batting average. She reached base at a .500 clip and posted a .933 slugging percentage while driving in five runs and scoring three times. Her week also included one double, two home runs, and one walk as Meredith faced a challenging slate of opponents.
In a pair of contests against Averett University, Standridge went a combined 4-for-8 with a run scored, two RBI, and a home run, providing consistent production in the middle of the lineup. She continued to contribute in a 5–1 victory over SUNY New Paltz, finishing 1-for-4 with a run scored.
Standridge capped off the week with one of her strongest performances against nationally ranked Randolph-Macon College, going 2-for-3 with a run scored, three RBI, a home run, and a walk in the matchup.
The junior has been a steady presence in Meredith's lineup this season, and her production last week played a key role in keeping the Avenging Angels competitive against quality non-conference opponents.
